JAD Technologies LLC
Privacy Policy
Effective date: [EFFECTIVE DATE] · Last updated: [LAST UPDATED]
1. Introduction
Eeda is operated by JAD Technologies LLC, a Michigan limited liability company (“we,” “us,” “our”). This policy explains what information we collect, why, and what control you have over it. It covers the Eeda app for iPhone and Android and the website at geteeda.com.
Contact us any time at support@geteeda.com.
The short version: We collect what we need to run a local home-services directory with booking requests. We do not sell your personal information and we do not run advertising trackers. If you use the contacts feature to find friends, your contact list never leaves your phone in readable form and we do not keep it. You can delete your account and your data at any time from inside the app.
2. Who This Covers
- Customers — people using Eeda to find, contact, and book service professionals.
- Pros — service professionals with listings on Eeda.
- Visitors — anyone browsing geteeda.com, including people who leave their details on the founding-pro form.
3. What We Collect
3.1 Information You Give Us
All users: name, email address, phone number, and — if you sign up with a password — a password. Passwords are handled by our sign-in provider and stored only in hashed form; we never see or store a readable password. If you sign in with Apple or Google instead, we receive the name and email address (or Apple’s private relay address) that Apple or Google shares with us, and no password exists.
Optional details: a home address or city (used as the starting point for search), an invite code you share with friends, notes and tags on the pros you save, and reviews you write.
Information about other people. If you add a contractor who is not on Eeda to your “My pros” list, we store the name and phone number you type, visible to you and — if you choose “My friends” — to the friends you have added. Only add details the business makes public, and share responsibly. A business that wants such an entry removed can email support@geteeda.com.
Pros additionally: business name, business address and phone, service categories and service area, services and prices, business description, years in business, photos of work, availability, and any credential information you choose to provide — a license number with its issuing body and state, a certificate of insurance you upload, and statements such as bonded, veteran-owned, or family-owned. Credential information and documents are displayed on your public profile as provided by you, with the date you provided them. We do not check them.
Bookings: the service, date, time, the address where the work will happen, and any note you attach to a booking request, plus its status (requested, confirmed, declined, expired, cancelled, completed).
Reports: if you report a listing, the reason you choose and any details you type.
Payments (Pros only): subscriptions are purchased through Apple’s App Store or Google Play. Apple or Google processes the payment and holds your card details. We do not receive or store card numbers. We receive the plan you bought, its status and renewal dates, and a transaction identifier.
Communications: messages you send to support@geteeda.com and details you leave on the founding-pro form on geteeda.com (name, email, phone, city, trade).
3.2 Contacts — Finding Friends
The People feature can show you which people in your phone’s contacts already use Eeda, so you can add them as friends and see the pros they choose to share (“Friends’ picks”). Using your contacts for this is entirely optional. Nothing happens until you tap the button and grant permission on your phone.
When you do:
- Your phone converts each phone number in your contacts into a one-way cryptographic code (a SHA-256 hash) on the device, before anything is transmitted.
- Only those codes leave your phone, and only to ask our database which of them belong to Eeda members. Names, phone numbers, email addresses, and every other contact detail stay on your phone and are used only to draw the list on your screen.
- We do not store the codes, and we do not store any copy of your contact list, readable or otherwise. The match is answered and the codes are discarded; there is nothing to delete afterward, and there is no stored list to switch off. You can revoke the contacts permission at any time in your phone’s settings.
- We never use your contacts to send invitations, marketing, or any other message. If you choose to invite a friend, the invitation is a text message you send yourself from your own phone.
- We do not sell, rent, or share contact information with anyone.
So that friends can find you the same way, we store a one-way code of your own phone number and of your own email address on your member card, along with your name, city, and invite code. Other signed-in members can find you by searching your name, by typing your exact phone number or email address, or by matching their own contacts as described above; what they see is your name, city, and how many pros you have saved. Your member card, including those codes, is deleted when you delete your account.
A one-way code cannot be turned back into a phone number directly, but phone numbers are short enough that a code could in principle be tested against guessed numbers. For that reason we treat these codes as personal information and protect them like the rest of your account.
3.3 Location
With your permission, we use your device’s precise location to show Pros near you and, for Pros, to set a service area. Location is read when you ask the app to use it (for example, “Use my location” on the search screen); we do not track your location in the background. You can use Eeda without location by entering a city or ZIP code instead, and you can revoke location permission in your device settings at any time. The home address or city you choose is saved on your account so search starts there next time.
Sensitive personal information. Some of what we collect counts as “sensitive personal information” under California and similar state laws: your precise location, if you allow it, and your account log-in details. We use precise location only to show you Pros near you and, for Pros, to set a service area. We never use it, or any other sensitive information, to work out characteristics about you, and we do not sell or share it.
3.4 Information Collected Automatically
We do not use analytics or advertising software in the app or on the website. What is collected automatically is limited to what running the service requires: the servers that host Eeda record standard connection details such as IP address, device type, operating system, and time of request in their logs; the app stores a push-notification token for each device you sign in on, so we can notify you about bookings; and the website records the details you type into the founding-pro form only when you submit it. The public website sets no tracking cookies. The staff-only administration site uses a sign-in cookie or local storage for staff members only.
Apple and Google may share crash reports and usage statistics about the app with us if you have opted in to sharing them with app developers on your device; those reports do not identify you to us.
Pages on geteeda.com load their typeface from a third-party web font service. Loading a page therefore sends that service the IP address and browser type of whoever opens it. No cookie is set, and we receive nothing from it.
Do Not Track and Global Privacy Control. We do not run advertising or analytics trackers, so there is no cross-site tracking to turn off. Browsers can send signals such as Do Not Track and Global Privacy Control; because we do not sell or share personal information or serve targeted advertising, those signals do not change how we treat your information.
3.5 Information From Other Sources
We do not buy or collect information about you from data brokers, public-records services, or background-check providers. We do not perform background checks. If you sign in with Apple or Google, the only information we receive from them is described in Section 3.1.
3.6 Notice at Collection (the same information, in the categories California law uses)
| Category | Do we collect it? | Why | Who gets it |
|---|---|---|---|
| Identifiers (name, email, phone, address, account id, IP address) | Yes | Run your account and bookings; keep the service secure | Our hosting, sign-in, notification, and email providers; Apple/Google; the Pro or Customer on a booking sees your name |
| Customer records (contact and account details) | Yes | Same as above | Same as above |
| Commercial information (subscriptions, bookings, saved pros) | Yes | Run bookings and Pro subscriptions | Our hosting provider; Apple/Google |
| Internet activity (app and server connection logs) | Yes | Keep the service running and secure | Our hosting providers |
| Precise geolocation (sensitive) | Only if you allow it | Show Pros near you; set a Pro’s service area | Our hosting provider |
| Account log-in details (sensitive) | Yes | Sign you in | Our sign-in provider, stored hashed |
| Professional information (a Pro’s business details and credential information) | Yes, from Pros | Display the Pro’s public listing | Public, by design |
| Audio, biometric, genetic, health, education, or immigration information | No | — | — |
| Inferences or profiles about you | No | — | — |
We do not sell or share any of it, and we do not use it for targeted advertising.
4. How We Use Information
- To operate the directory: showing listings, running searches near you, and connecting Customers with Pros.
- To create and manage accounts and sign you in.
- To handle booking requests: sending the request to the Pro, telling you when it is confirmed, declined, or expired, and sending a confirmation email.
- To display the credential information and documents a Pro chooses to provide. We do not check this information. See Section 3 of our Terms of Service.
- To power the People feature — finding friends and showing Friends’ picks — for the friends you add.
- To send push notifications and in-app notifications about your bookings, your listing, and people who add you as a friend.
- To administer Pro subscriptions purchased through Apple or Google.
- To communicate with you: service notices, security alerts, support responses, and — if you opt in — news about Eeda.
- To review new Pro listings before they appear in search, and to act on reports about listings.
- To detect and prevent fraud, abuse, spam, and fake reviews.
- To comply with law and enforce our Terms of Service.
We do not use your information to make automated decisions that produce legal or similarly significant effects about you. Two things in the app are automatic and are described here for transparency: a booking request that a Pro does not answer within 8 hours expires on its own, and a listing that is reported by five different accounts within 30 days is paused from search until our team looks at it.
5. What We Share — and What We Don’t
We do not sell your personal information. We do not share it with data brokers, and we do not use it for targeted advertising. We have not sold or shared personal information, as those terms are defined in the California Consumer Privacy Act and comparable state laws, in the preceding twelve months, and we do not knowingly sell or share the personal information of anyone under 16.
We share information only as follows:
Publicly, by design. A Pro’s listing — business name, owner name, contact details, service area, categories, services and prices, photos, description, credential information and uploaded documents, availability, reviews, and rating — is public. That is the point of a directory. Pros should not put anything on a profile they don’t want publicly visible.
With the people you choose. When you save a pro and mark it “My friends,” the friends you have added can see that pro, your tags, and your note. Your member card (name, city) is visible to signed-in members who find you. When you send a booking request, the Pro sees your name, the service, the date and time, the city of the job, and any note you attach. When the Pro confirms, they also receive the job address you entered and your phone number so they can reach you and get there; your email address is never shared with a Pro. Pros are independent businesses: once they have your details, they handle them under their own practices, which we do not control. A Pro’s confirmation, address, and phone number are visible to the Customer who asked.
With service providers who work for us, under contract and only for these purposes:
| Provider | Purpose | What they get |
|---|---|---|
| Our cloud hosting provider | Running the service: database, sign-in, file storage, backend code | Account and listing data, uploaded files, connection logs |
| Apple and Google | App distribution, sign-in with Apple / Google, in-app subscriptions, crash reporting if you opt in | Sign-in identity, purchase and subscription status, device and diagnostic data |
| Our push-notification delivery provider | Delivering push notifications to your device | Push-notification token and the notification text |
| Our email provider | Sending booking confirmations and support replies from our mailboxes | Your email address and the message |
| Our website host | Hosting geteeda.com | Standard web-server connection logs |
Every provider above is bound by contract to use your information only to provide its service to us. We will name our current providers on request at support@geteeda.com.
For legal reasons — if required by law, subpoena, or court order, or where we believe disclosure is necessary to prevent harm, fraud, or a violation of our Terms.
In a business transfer — if JAD Technologies LLC is merged, acquired, or sells substantially all of its assets, information may transfer as part of that transaction. We will post notice of it here and, where required, tell you in the app or by email.
6. Your Choices and Rights
Access and correction. View and edit your profile, home address, saved pros, and (for Pros) your listing in the app at any time.
Deletion. Delete your account from the Account screen in the app (Customers) or from the Subscription screen (Pros), or email support@geteeda.com. Deleting your account removes your profile, your member card, your saved pros and friend connections, and (for Pros) your listing. Your account, profile, member card, saved pros, and friend connections are deleted the moment you confirm; anything left in routine backups clears within 30 days. The records in the table in Section 7 are kept for the periods shown. Reviews you posted stay on the Pro’s listing under the name you used and cannot be edited or taken down by you once posted; you can ask us to remove one at support@geteeda.com, and we decide. A Pro subscription bought through Apple or Google must be cancelled there; deleting your account does not cancel it.
Contacts. The contacts feature stores nothing, so there is nothing to turn off; revoke the permission in your phone’s settings if you no longer want the app to be able to read your contacts.
Location. Revoke the permission in your device settings; enter a city or ZIP code instead.
Notifications. Turn push notifications off in your device settings. You will still see notifications inside the app and receive emails about bookings you made.
Marketing. We do not currently send marketing email. If we ever do, it will be something you opt in to, and every message will carry a one-click unsubscribe link. Service messages about your account and your bookings are part of using Eeda and are not marketing.
Residents of certain states — including California, Colorado, Connecticut, Virginia, and others with comprehensive privacy laws — may have additional rights, including the right to know, delete, correct, obtain a portable copy, and opt out of sale or targeted advertising. We do not sell personal information or engage in cross-context behavioral advertising. To exercise any right, email support@geteeda.com from the address on your account (or tell us how to confirm it is you); we respond within the time the law allows, usually 45 days. You may have an authorized agent make a request for you; we will ask for written proof that you gave them permission, and we may still ask you to confirm it yourself. Before we delete anything, we confirm the request came from the account holder, so that nobody else can delete your account. You may appeal a decision by replying to our response. We will not discriminate against you for exercising a right.
7. Data Retention
How long we keep each kind of information:
| What | How long we keep it |
|---|---|
| Your account and profile | While your account is open; deleted when you delete your account, with backup copies cleared within 30 days |
| Your member card, saved pros, and friend connections | Deleted with your account |
| Booking records (kept on both the Customer’s and the Pro’s side) | 3 years from the booking date, so that either side, and we, can resolve a later dispute; then deleted automatically |
| Reviews you posted | Stay on the Pro’s listing after you delete your account, under the name you used |
| Pro subscription and transaction records | 7 years, for tax and accounting |
| Reports about listings and their outcome | 3 years, so that repeat problems can be seen; then deleted automatically |
| Founding-pro form entries on geteeda.com | 2 years, or sooner if you ask; then deleted automatically |
| Notifications inside the app | 1 year; then deleted automatically |
| Connection logs at our hosting providers | Their standard retention, typically weeks to months |
| Contact-match codes from the friends feature | Not kept at all — the match is answered and the codes are discarded |
Where a booking involves two people, deleting your account does not delete the record from the other person’s side until the period above has run. Purchase records held by Apple or Google follow their retention rules. Aggregated and anonymized data may be kept indefinitely.
8. Security
We use industry-standard measures: encryption in transit and at rest, database rules that limit every record to the people allowed to read or change it, staff access only through individual logins with assigned roles, passwords handled by our sign-in provider in hashed form, and payment processing kept entirely on Apple’s and Google’s systems.
No system is perfectly secure. We cannot guarantee absolute security, and you provide information at your own risk. If a breach affects your personal information, we will notify you as required by Michigan law and any other applicable law.
9. Children
Eeda is not intended for anyone under 18. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us information, email support@geteeda.com and we will delete it.
10. Third-Party Links
Pro profiles may link to outside websites, and the app links to state government license-lookup websites so you can check a Pro’s license yourself. We are not responsible for the privacy practices of those sites. Read their policies.
11. Where Your Data Is Held
Eeda is operated from the United States and information is stored and processed here. If you use the Service from outside the U.S., you consent to that transfer.
12. Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy. Material changes will be posted here with a new “Last Updated” date, and where required we will notify you in the app or by email before they take effect.
