Your privacy choices

Eeda uses tools from Meta, the company behind Facebook and Instagram, to see which of its ads work, and to show them to people likely to want Eeda. Here is what those tools get, what they never get, and how to turn them off.

On this website

geteeda.com has Meta's “pixel”: a small piece of code from Meta. When it's on, each page of geteeda.com you open tells Meta that the page was opened. Meta also gets the page's address, the address of the page you came from, your browser and its internet address, and a cookie of its own called “_fbp” (and “_fbc” too, if you came from a link on Facebook or Instagram, such as one of Eeda's ads).

When you send the “Tell me when it opens” form or the “List my business” form, Meta is told only that a form was sent, and which of the two. Never your name, email, phone number or city.

The pixel is never on the pages whose links carry a personal code: the page that opens from Eeda's account emails, a claim link, the invite link, the “Remove this listing” page and the unsubscribe page. It is never on Eeda's staff pages either.

Checking…

Your choice is kept in this browser, for geteeda.com only. On another browser, phone or computer, or after you clear this browser's data for geteeda.com, choose again.

Global Privacy Control. If your browser sends a Global Privacy Control signal, Meta's pixel stays off on geteeda.com by itself. You don't need to do anything else.

In the Eeda app

The app has Meta's own app tools (Meta's “SDK”). When they're on, the app tells Meta when:

With a plan, they also get whether it began with free months, how long each period is, the date, and Apple's own reference numbers for the purchase (and they see a purchase restored on a phone too). With each of these, Meta's tools also get the phone's model and system, its screen size and number of processor cores, the mobile carrier's name, the app's version, the language and time zone, the internet address, and a random code Meta keeps for the app. They get the phone's advertising ID only if you allowed tracking on an iPhone, or, on an Android phone, unless you deleted that ID in the phone's Settings.

Your two choices in the app

  1. Apple's question (iPhone). On the Welcome screen, your iPhone may ask “Allow Eeda to track your activity across other companies' apps and websites?” once. (A phone that was already signed in to Eeda when this began is never asked, and then Meta never gets its advertising ID.) If you tap “Ask App Not to Track”, Meta never gets the phone's advertising ID from Eeda. The app works the same whatever you answer. You can change it any time: open your iPhone's Settings, tap Privacy & Security, then Tracking.
  2. The switch “Share app activity with Meta”. It is on the Account tab, for home accounts and pro accounts alike. Turn it off and that phone sends Meta nothing from Eeda: not the installs and opens, and not the rest of the list above. The switch belongs to the phone it is on, so set it on each phone you use.

Even if you tap “Ask App Not to Track”, the app still tells Meta about the moments in the list above, without the advertising ID. To stop it sending anything at all, turn off the switch.

What Meta never gets from Eeda

Your name, email address, phone number or home address. What you search for, the messages you send, the pros you save, your friends, your home tasks, the jobs you post, your bookings, or any card details. Eeda doesn't send Meta the ID of your Eeda account either.

Meta handles what it receives under its own terms and its own privacy policy.

Your right to opt out

Under California's privacy law and similar laws in other states, letting Meta's tools measure our ads this way counts as “sharing” your personal information for “cross-context behavioral advertising”, which some states call “targeted advertising”. You have the right to opt out of it. Here is how:

We will never treat you differently for opting out. Our Privacy Policy has the full details.
