Eeda

Eeda for everyone

Accessibility

We want the app and this website to work for people who use a screen reader, larger text, voice control, or a switch, and we are still improving.

What we aim for

We build the Eeda app and geteeda.com toward the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2, level AA. What we aim for, in practice: every button and link has a name a screen reader can say, text can be made larger with your phone’s settings, colors are chosen so text stays readable, every screen can be used without a mouse, and nothing important is conveyed by color alone.

Two spots in the app change by themselves: the seasonal note on the Pros tab and the tips for this month on the My Home tab each take turns every 10 seconds. Tap a dot under either one to stop it on the card you are reading. With VoiceOver or TalkBack on they never change by themselves; the dots move between the cards.

When Eeda starts up, a short video of the Eeda logo plays for about five seconds, with a short sound (under two seconds) as it begins. Tap anywhere on the video to go straight to the app (on Android, the back button does the same; with Voice Control, say “Tap Skip”). If Reduce Motion (on Android, Remove animations) is on in your phone’s settings, a still picture of the logo shows for two seconds instead of the video. With VoiceOver or TalkBack on, Eeda skips the video and opens straight away, with the sound. The sound follows your phone’s ring/silent setting: put your phone on silent and it does not play. Neither plays when you come back to Eeda from another app while Eeda is still open (if your phone closed Eeda while you were away, it starts afresh).

We are a small company and we have not yet had an outside audit. Some parts of the app are further along than others. We fix what people tell us about first.

Tell us what got in the way

If any part of Eeda is hard for you to use, email support@geteeda.com and tell us what you were trying to do, which screen or page it was, and what assistive technology you use if any. We will work with you to get you what you need, and we will fix the problem.

Rather talk? Call (248) 509-4399 and leave a message, or email support@geteeda.com — a person at Eeda will help.

If a screen will not cooperate, email support@geteeda.com and we will walk you through it or do what we can from our side — including deleting your account for you.
